I’ve had the great privilege of having major media recognize my work as a coach – I’ve coached people live in studio on The Ricki Lake Show, given coaching advice for readers of Cosmopolitan magazine, advised on healthy success on The Today Show (hint: it’s not how our achievement-crazed society would describe success), and been an Embrace Life Expert Coach for Reader’s Digest Best Health, among many other media outlets.

Potential clients often ask me how I’m different from other coaches. Here’s my answer:
The work we will do together is richer and deeper than a traditional life coaching process. In addition to being a coach I act as an expert consultant to help you more effectively implement change on multiple levels of your life (please note: even though I’m a medical doctor, working with me as your coach does not establish a doctor-patient relationship of any kind; I act as a coach, not a doctor, in this capacity and do not give medical advice. I will always direct you to your own physician if you have any physical or mental health concerns that arise in the coaching process).
Many life coaches work on a superficial level, focused on the basics of your goals. They help you identify obstacles, give you assignments and work with you to create a basic plan to achieve each goal. I use this process as a starting point, but go beyond it. I bring to our work over 20 years of working with and studying human nature and behavior, psychology, motivation, and health and wellness principles.
Whether your goals are to be less self-critical and fearful, to consider a career change, to improve your relationships, to stop overeating, or to finally start living a truly healthy active life (or all of the above!), it’s my joy to share my personal and professional expertise in these and other areas to help you move forward. I also periodically help aspiring authors/speakers/experts to begin to establish a platform and expand the impact of their work.
Together we’ll look at your life, your beliefs, your challenges, and your goals and hopes from a fresh perspective, with the intention of uncovering what lies beneath, and equipping you with whatever it is you need to move forward in your life.
When you work with me, I will:
- challenge and help you explore your belief systems, aiming to discern reality and truth
- examine your habitual choices and lifestyle practices, with the goal of implementing positive change
- inventory your talents, interests and thoughtfully examine any opportunities at hand
- listen deeply to you, possibly more so than anyone else ever has (I hear this often from clients!)
- be someone for you to be accountable to, to make change happen instead of just dreaming about it
- openly and generously share my professional and personal knowledge and experience with you
- assess your situations and goals, sharing my insights and perspectives about your obstacles and challenges
- cheer you on, applaud each big or small success, and jump up and down when you have a breakthrough!

My relationship with you in the event that we work together is as a coach, not a medical doctor, psychologist or counsellor (the relationship that is created is not, under any circumstances a physician-patient relationship or a therapeutic relationship). Though I practice separately as a medical doctor, and occasionally we may touch on medically related topics as they are a relevant part of your life, my work with you as a coach is about helping you move forward and meet your goals in creating a generally balanced, healthy, happy life. It is not a substitute for appropriate medical advice from your physician or other health professional. I work with you as my coaching client, not my patient, and as such in our work together it is not my role to officially diagnose or treat any medical or psychological/psychiatric conditions. If something medically related comes up in our work together, I may advise you to see a physician for further follow-up if I believe it would be appropriate.
