Having reached the ‘ripe old age’…what a stupid expression…I feel neither ripe nor old…of 64…I have decided that my purpose in life is to have no purpose ob life! How Sad. I gave my energy, after teaching, to parenting(which is ongoing, though my sons are in their 30’s) and being a wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, and friend. Clearly, little time was left for me. Now that I have the time, I can’t seem to reconnect with myself. Did I ever have any dreams beyond what was expected of me? I do not know!!!
Hi Diane, Take heart – there is much you can still live and do, and you very likely have a truly delightful purpose in store for you for this season of your life. A purpose doesn’t have to be huge, it can be as simple as being someone who brightens others lives or encourages others. I don’t know if you own my book or not, but there’s a complimentary workbook that comes with it that contains exercises that might help you sort out some of these questions, it encourages you to dream and re-connect with you : )
Susan, Another great article. I benefitted greatly by attending your women’s retreat in December. I have already begun my journey to follow my dream. I have a long road ahead of me. But it is a journey in the right direction. Thank-you for your all of your encouragement. Julie
Hi Susan, whilst reading your article a moment of clarification came to me. For some time now I have been ‘searching’ for my purpose, but I realise that at the moment I am where I am meant to be – even if it is ‘simple’. You see, I have been working with my employer for 10 years now and he is the most wonderful boss. Sadly, his wife has cancer, but they are able to take small trips away while she is still well enough. During their absence, I run the office and look after things, so that they have the freedom to be away. Thank you for enabling me to see that I am ‘where I am meant to be’ for now. Much love and blessings to you, Denise
well, i’ve been wanting to focus on this life goal :”health and happiness for myself and others.” i read your book, and i am reading it and it has helped me in some of my life areas. i am inspired to be a writer, some kind of public speaker. i want to maximize my own health in all the aspects of my life(mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical). i also want to join a fitness program. although i’m not sure what exactly i want to be…i want to take it one inspiring heart beat at a time.
Again you have brought great information and insight for me to process. Sometimes when I read your articles I feel you have been in my head, they are so relevant to my life. This article is one of those. Thank you!

Susan,
Another great article. I benefitted greatly by attending your women’s retreat in December. I have already begun my journey to follow my dream. I have a long road ahead of me. But it is a journey in the right direction.
Thank-you for your all of your encouragement.
